The Purple Flower

Dustin, our 4 yr old, picked this flower for his mother yesterday. That in it's self was an act of love but the manner in which he acquired the flower says so much more. Dustin was playing in the house when he suddenly went outside, got on his little bike (with training wheels), and proceeded down the driveway; which is about 300' in length and covered in gravel. Then rode another 200' up the srteet where he got off his bike and searched for the perfect flower, carefully picked it, got back on his bike and headed for home. When he got to the driveway he got stuck in the gravel, so he dismounted his bike, moved it forward, climbed back on and continued with his delivery of love to his mother. When he got stuck again, he got off his bike, moved it forward, repeating this process every 3' or so. Each time placing the flower in his mouth freeing both hands to advance the bike until he reached the sidewalk where he proudly delivered the flower to his mom. All the while his mother watched out the window, her heart growing bigger each time he got stuck and had to dismount his bike, working so hard to bring her a flower, never getting frustrated, never quitting, determine to finish what he set out to do. To bring his mom a flower, not any flower, a purple flower- her favorite color.
